Jacko Wacko

Today my little sister Jackie came to visit for Thanksgiving and she brought to my attention the fact that I ignored her birthday on my blog. So Jack, here's my ode to you...

25 reasons why I love my Action Jackson...

1. Her butt. Jack booty in the house. It's big beautiful and can bounce a quarter off of it. She defines buns of steel!
2. Her eyes, their green hazel heaven! I love that they change depending on what she wears.
3. Her gorgeous hair. So healthy, frizz free and shiny.
4. Her smile. She's got big straight teeth and beautiful lips. She wore braces, like me, and we would tell her she looked like Darla in Finding Nemo, you know the niece of the Australian dentist who kills ever pet fish given to her. You should ask her to smile like Darla, it's hilarious!
5. Her nose, it has super powers. She can smell things a mile away. When we were little, she told my Mom she smelled smoke, then we found out there was a brush fire in a little patch of land about a block away from our house. She was like six. Also ask her to wave with her nose, it's adorable.
6. Her body, she is so diligent with her diet and work out system.
7. Her skin gets so bronzed in the summer, never burns, the girl has the perfect skin tone.
8. She is sooooo smart! She's always been so studious and really values education. Especially since she's now a sixth grade teacher.
9. Her voice! Have you ever heard her sing. Close your eyes and you'd swear she's a big black girl, no joke! So much soul!
10. Her dance abilities. She's amazing in Tap, Jazz, and booty shaking...see #1 :)
11. Her laugh. It's so annoying, you can't help but love it.
12. Her sense of style. She always looks fabulous.
13. Her spirituality, she's a rock! Daily scripture study, prayer...the whole nine yards, it's like she never got off her mission. It's truly amazing.
14. She should be the big sister, cause she's just an amazing example. She's as close to perfection as humanly possible.
15. She's an amazing friend. You don;t even have to ask her, she somehow just knows what someone needs.
16. She's a great listener, sometimes I feel bad about how one sided our phone conversations are, but the girl is just so comforting.
17. Her nails. Look at them, it's as if she takes 10 vitamins a day. Their long, strong, and beautiful!
18. Her ability to find something good in everyone. She just has such a big heart. She can hate no one and no one can hate her.
19. Her She is always looking to serve others. I'm making her help me move tomorrow. Poor thing, welcome home...now help me move lol!
20. She's an amazing teacher. I've seen her in action. I shadowed her for a couple of days and I was exhausted just watching, how she juggles twenty something twelve year olds is beyond me!
21. She is an amazing wife! She's about to celebrate her year anniversary and I'm learning from her how to have a strong marriage!
22. Her personality, she's always bubbly, positive and outgoing. She's never moody, like me lol
23. She's hilarious! Funniest thing is she's always the first to laugh at her own jokes.
24. She loves ice cream, you gotta love a girl who can sit down with you on a bad day eat a quart of ice cream with you no matter what.
25. Lastly her freckles, you can't always see them cause of her makeup but I know they are there, they make her look so little. Because of that it will always make here one of my baby sisters!

Diego's Welcome Video and Brunch

As a gift to Diego, Paulo and I spent weeks making the video below. We showed it at the welcome party for Diego and we got a really good response, so I thought to post it.

video

The party was at the Hilton's Bayfront, San Diego's newest hotel. It was an outdoor brunch. Those who know me know I hate Baby Showers and hate most of all Shower games, thus it was totally the opposite. Eating, chatting and enjoying the first day of summer that was a normal San Diego day, instead of the heat we'd been experiencing. The day was perfect!

Here are a few of my favorite pictures...

My grandma and the man of the hour.

My Mom and the little Prince.

My Tia Mary and the little monster.

My Carmy and Gogo.

All my sisters...except Sara and of course...Diego.
A few of the decorarations...hey I'm an event planner, give me a break, I had to include these lol.

All the gifts...we're so blessed!

Thank you to all who where able to make it and those who have said many wonderful things about little Diego.

Diego's Newborn Pictures

These pictures were taken by the very talented Lillie...check out her blogs, she's amazing. Diego was nine days old. Here are a few of my favorite pictures...
Loved Paulo's huge hand compared to our little guy.
Paulo looks even hotter with Diego in his arms!
Look at his big feet. :)
My angel...
Love when he's sleeping.
Love his big ears.
I was very sleep deprived, totally not picture ready, but I still love this family photo.
Yes, he's totally naked.
Who would have thought that my Mom's bench in her backyard would make this masterpiece.

Four generations...My grandma Estela, my Mom Rachel, Me and Diego.

Look at his big eyes!

Named after San Diego, California, we couldn't resist.

This is my absolute favorite picture...he looks like a model!

I thought this would be a good picture to end with...my family.

Happy 1 Week Birthday Diego!

Oh my gosh, I've become one of those parents. Those annoying ones that really think they have the cutest and most well behaved children. Well...LOOK AT HIM!!!

He's the most beautiful baby I've EVER seen in my life. And he's soooooo good! He already has a good sleeping schedule, he almost never cries. He's perfect, I don't deserve him!

Diego is here!

Hi everyone...meet Diego Marcos Corvalan.
He was born on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at 4:51pm and weighed 6.8 lbs. 18 inches long.

Here's the long story...I was supposed to be induced on Friday, due to the symptoms of pre-eclampsia I was experiencing, but there was no room in the hospital, so they told me to try calling on Sunday morning at 10 to see if they could admit me at 11am. So on Sunday I woke up at 8am with my alarm and then started having contractions. But I wasn't sure they were contractions. My Mom always described them as lower back pain that moved to the front abdomen which would in turn make your belly get hard. Mine were nothing like it. Mine were felt in my pubic area and grew stronger and stronger just in my abdomen and never made my belly strong. At about 9:15am, Paulo called the hospital and they said to go to triage, but I was afraid to get sent home.

We got to triage at 10:30am when they checked me the nurse said my water broke and that I was 5 cm dilated and would be admitted into a room right away, I was so relieved that I wasn't going home and didn't have to be induced!

We were in our labor and delivery room by noon, and I started pushing at 4:30pm, no epidurals, no pain meds, I can't believe I got through all natural. The Doctor had told me to prepare for a possible C-Section. So it was wonderful that I was able to experience a birth like my Mom and Aunt had.
At 4:51pm he was born. The nurse had said it takes on average two hours to push the baby out, I was like WHAT?!?!? But he only took about 6-8 pushes. Yes, it was the most painful thing I had ever experienced, but at the same time, with Paulo's help I felt that it was supposed to be that way.

Paulo was AMAZING! I am starting to tear up just thinking about how absolutely wonderful he was. He did breathing techniques and concentration methods with me, and didn't get upset when I would yell at him. He's going to be the BEST Dad ever!

This is Dr. Dale Lapp, who had my Mom, my Tia Mary and myself as patients...So he delivered CeeCee in 1990, Zoe in 1994, Audrey in 1997, and finally Diego in 2009..everyone in this picture was a patient or baby of Dr. Lapp's. Anyone looking for an OB/GYN in San Diego, this man is experienced and is so kind!

Diego meets his grandpa Hector...he will be called Papa King (a nickname given to him by Paulo, so our children will all be calling him that)
Diego meets grandma Rachel aka Mama Queen. Which she definitely prefers since this is her first grandchild, GRANDMA was like calling her a bad name.

Diego meets Tia Chuckie...or CeeCee, his favorite Tia according to her.

Diego meets his great grandmother Estela. It's her first great grandchild and she wouldn't let a minor flu keep her away. Although she looks like she has the swine flu, she just is being careful. Ok, we had to force her to put it on.

Diego meets Karla, who has been my best friend since we were twelve. She was a godsend, she took all these pictures, held the camcorder and somehow was able to keep my va jay jay and nipple out of them all. Thank you Karla! She was also so encouraging, smiling every time I looked over to her.

A few of my favorite pics of me and my son...

And now our family feels complete.

San Diego County Fair aka the Del Mar Fair

On the 4th of July, since I had to work a wedding that night and would miss the fireworks. We decided to go to the fair. This was Paulo's first time ever going and since I hadn't been in like a decade, we both were ecstatic! We brought Noah along, for practice I guess. That and because we hadn't spent anytime with Noah in a long time. Here's a few of my favorite pictures:

So much discrimination... :)

After cotton candy, two corn dogs, an icee, a snow cone, a funnel cake and half a dozen rides...Noah finally got tired...
